CAGES
depending on the type of hutch you choose for your rabbit will also depend on where you plan to house it.traditionally, rabbits are kept outdoors, but they make great indoor pets and can be house trained.
a clean and dry hutch is essential to your rabbit.remove wet beedding daily from the hutch and clear heavly soiled areas daily.remove any uneaten food and wash and dry bowels .wash and refill the water bottle, checking for any leakages and blockages.
                    selecting your rabbit
before selecting your rabbits you must allways handle your rabbit and check the following points;
*eyes ears-must be free of discharge, must be clean
* does it cough or sneeze ?
*the rabbits coat should be smoth and with an overall gentle shine.check there are no breaks in the fur,no bare patches,no lumps or spots on the skin.
*look under the tail.are ther any signs of soiling of the fur that may indicate diarrhoea?
*inspect each foot ,are the nails clean and dry with no evidence of weeping ulcers or inflamined areas?check inbetween the toes as well.
*is the rabbit active and alert?
              handling your rabbit
rabbits are easily frightened and must always be hanndled with care.
never pick the rabbit up by its ears, put one hand under the chest, holding each foreleg separately between the thumb and two fingers, take the weight with your other hand under the rump. when carring a rabbit thus held, keep it close to your chest.
        TEETH AND NAILS
Each week check your rabbits teeth to see if they are overgrowing too long and the same with teeth.overgrown teeth should be delt with by the veterinary surgeon.nails can be trimmed off.if unsure how to to trim, best to get it done by your vet.
                          FOOD
RABBITS NEED A   BALANCE DIET JUST LIKE US.
pet shops sell a large range of food.its pest to use in opinion a complete rabbit pellets with a good hay supplement and fresh vegetables.its best to feed yoyr rabbit on food its used to ask the breader or pet shop as a sudden change in food can cause problems .
fresh greens should be offered but only in small quanties and best fed in the morning as rabbits have a very sensitive digestive tract so the rabbit can digest properly.
